|I really like this new USMT banner!|
So, July 28th (Saturday) found me & two other team mates at this annual event. It's an ULTRA running race. This is an interesting running race with some pretty incredible people. We did encounter some pretty intense individuals who run with passion! Some run for the fun of it and and others feel like they have something to prove. I like to run.. but I know I could never run for that long or for that distance... well, I won't say never ~ I'll say I choose not to ~ that's a big difference.
I am glad that I was able to be there to help support all the runners who came by our tent for some sports massage services to help them get through their event. By the time we got on site, the runners and relay teams had already been running for over 12 hours. good grief ~~ muscle soreness & micro tears, cramps and dehydration galore!
We came prepared, we had on site with us:
- ice tub
- ice & ice bricks
- Sombra & Biofreeze
- 1st aid supplies / VASELINE
- tents to rest under and ... GOOD HUMOR!! we are good for a few good laughs.
The chronic muscular issues create some issues but easy to deal with.
I found myself providing a lot of ice massage using my "tools" around most athletes knee's and providing a few ice baths for the feet & calf's. Overall it was a great day ~~ I met some really nice people throughout the day.
We even cleaned up & broke down the massage tent and got out of "dodge" before the rain started to down pour and ultimately ending the event.
HOPEFULLY.... some of the athletes we treated will take the time to come and see us in the office ~~ you know RI is sooo big... it takes forever to get to us.... NOT! get in here people! :o)
Always & with the Glitter!
We will be offering a special promotion to help them get better acquainted with the Crossfit Community and get new clients overall.
If you book an hour massage with either of them you will receive a discount of $35.00. You only pay $55.00!!
This offer will expire on October 31st 2012
Call the office to schedule your appointment. 1-401-228-8554

Leading by example... but SERIOUSLY, we say it because we are concerned for you ~ our client's & athlete's. We know what we have just done to your bodies and how it will affect you -- on a cellular level. Now it's your turn to execute what we have asked you to do... DRINK some water.. and you know why... we have explained it to you.
Now, here is some additional information for you to "chew on" -- DRINK UP!!
WATER is essential to good health because it:
- acts as a medium to support numerous metabolic reactions
- is the main component of blood, so it carries hormones, nutrients and other compounds to the body's cells
- moves metabolic waste products away from cells, for excretion from the body
- is the "solvent that assists the elimination of the soluble metabolic wastes by the kidney's, through the production of urine", and..
- ensures body temperature regulation
- muscle soreness
- joint pain
- foggy thinking / decrease in cognitive performance
- lack of energy
Some of you have heard me say.. "this muscle feels like raw hide".. how much water have you been drinking?? I always get a chuckle out of some who say.. I drink all day long!... hahahahah.. NO YOU DON"T! ( I know that some of you who know me can hear me laughing.. but it's true.. it happens)
If you would like to find out more information on this subject .. check out this website: www.h4hinitiative.com
How much water to drink?? ... that is the question: Multiply your weight by two-thirds to get the number of ounces of water you should consume each day. ( A 180 -pound person, for example .. should consume 120 ounces , or 3.75 quarts of water daily)
A little trick I use in the morning before my daily "cup of joe" is to drink a 6-8 oz glass of water... because we know what the coffee will do to us.. dehydrate us... balance it out!
It's also important to note that water rich food such as: fruits & vegetables contribute to your overall water intake.. and your dehydration level can be affected by;
- physical exertion
- general physical condition
Always & with the sparkly Glitter I move onto the day!!
I want to express my gratitude... nothing short of a miracle. 2 hours after my first therapy I was able to lift my hand half way. I've tried for 9 weeks without even a flinch.. it brought tears (of joy) to my eyes. Then I got your letter... you've made such an impression on me. ~~ I'm lucky to have found you. I look forward to working with you and cannot express how indebted to you I am. THANK YOU ... I'll see you tomorrow.
This is what it's all about.. providing long lasting results and changing peoples lives for the better!
