Shivaka Thai Massage by Rainee

Photo: One could say that Thai massage is the original form of sports massage. It's a deep and rhythmic acupressure massage incorporated with yoga-like stretches. My standard sessions are an hour and a half but come in to USMT for a 1 hour Thai massage just to get a feel for it. I promise you won't be disappointed.
RAINEE   -   Your Shivaka Thai Therapist

Thai massage is one of the oldest forms of medicine. It is based on the idea that muscle tension and improper alignment may cause and/or contribute to physical, mental and internal imbalances. The techniques are focused on reducing tension within the body and improving the structure to facilitate the free flow of blood and energy.

When this flow of blood and energy has improved, the major systems of the body (immune, circulatory, nervous, etc.) will be better able to naturally heal disease and to promote health and well-being.

TREATMENTS ...

Thai massage includes static stretching in yoga-like positions and deep rhythmic massage.  A standard session lasts an hour and a half but can stretch to three hours depending on the needs of the client.  Thai massage is an extremely effective form of bodywork, affecting the physical and energetic bodies at once.  Rainee has blended her training in Gua Sha, Amma therapy and Thai massage to create a truly healing treatment - Shivaka Thai Massage.

WHAT TO EXPECT...

Your session begins with an assessment of your individual alignment, energetic qualities and physical form.  You may address any concerns with the therapist at this time.  You will then enjoy a foot soak and a detoxification of the body through the lower legs.

Next, enjoy the yoga-like stretches and acupressure of Thai massage, slowly working up from the feet and around the body to the head, ending with the feet once again.

Amma therapy and gua sha are always available modalities should you want to make use of their powerful healing effects.

HOW TO PREPARE...

Thai massage is a very convenient form of massage.  It can be done anywhere that has enough floor space for a queen-size thai mat and tranquil surroundings.

Comfortable cotton clothing that allows you to move with a full range of motion is recommended.  Bolsters are provided to make your session extremely comfortable.  The only thing you need to bring is YOUR SELF!!  Lie back and enjoy.

we have a variety of supplies available from which to choose, however, you may use your own blend of detoxifying tea if you wish and any special scrubs or aromas for your foot saok as well.  Oils, cre`mes and lotions are not used during a standard Thai massage.  Only if gua sha is administered is oil used.

Please call for more details on bodywork services, scheduling and pricing.

Marine Corps Marathon October 28th,2012

The Ultimate Sports Massage Team was on hand at the 2012 MCM partnering with 2 separate charities this year: The Semper Fi Fund & Hope 4 the Warriors.  We provided sports massage for the participants at the end of the Marathon.  We dealt with hand cyclists, 10K runners and able bodied runners for the full 26.2 miles.

Hurricane Sandy was fast approaching but did not effect the marathon for the most part.. nor did it affect the way we provided the post event sports massage services.

We did deal with a few cold related post marathon issues -- muscle cramping, hyperthermia etc... nothing life threatening but still caused us to be "on alert" for anything.  I say this because anything can happen with our wounded warrior athletes after an intense physical activity like this.   For our hand cyclists ... it was shoulder issues... lots of it!  We laughed a lot when our wounded warrior athletes commented that they never receive massage like this.. that's all I'm going to say on that!  (for those of you who really know me... you know why)

What a great experience again and both charities were extremely grateful for the care and attention we provided to all the athletes running or hand cycling to support the mission... raise awareness to our military and support them in their recovery.

As always ~ we did our job!!

Always & with the Glitter!!
