Ok, I'll say it... there is NOT enough of me to go around! It's SUPER BUSY here at Wallace Creek fitness center and only one of me providing that specialty brand of sports massage & IASTM. I constantly hear "you need to be cloned"! ~ Don't get me wrong, it's nice to hear that but I would love to be able to have other MT's in the area that can & will work the same way as me... have that same intention, provide those same goal orientated performance based outcomes for our Marines, Sailors & dependent's along with the DOD personal aboard base.
In the massage field, I think... no I know that most MT's view it as a "status" to say they "work" with the military... I can tell you that I DO ... on a daily basis. My office is "embedded" in a fully functional fitness facility with a SMART Clinic as well. I have referrals from the Naval Hospital, SMART Clinic, various commands on base to individual Marines who have experienced the work as well.
I have always said it and will continue to say it... USMT provides a special skill set, elevating the standard of care to our athletes, Military & Law Enforcement communities along clients who have been with us from the beginning. We don't turn anyone away.
We continue to "raise the bar" with professionalism, education & knowledge. We are the cutting edge of SPORTS MASSAGE... we learn from the best... and with that said & to bad if someone's "panties get in a bunch"... these experts who teach us are not in the massage field.
We / I work very well within the sports medical setting. Too many massage therapists CAN NOT walk the walk & talk the talk.... this is from my personal experience and trust me... there is an extreme amount of experience.
I take what I do very seriously... I love what I do!
This coming weekend will find the USMT RI & USMT NC massage therapists taking a second workshop in Myofascial Release. Staying on top of our skill set and knowledge along with our continual commitment to you... our athletes, military, law enforcement and clientele who depend on us for our EXPERTISE!! We got you ~ all day long! :o)
So to sum this up... WALLACE CREEK is super busy, I'm loving what I do and saddened on a daily basis that there isn't more of "me" to go around to help this population... a much deserving population.

Today I ran my very first 1/2 marathon with my partner in crime Kristen Paradise and the top massage therapist at the USMT RI office along with my "other" partner in crime ~ the Gunny (aka.. my husband) and Reggie ( a son from another mother) and a guest appearance from my son Eddie ( who lives in Fredericksburg VA.) The 1/2 marathon we ran was the Marine Corps Historic Half.
Kristen & I had some training but not nearly what we really needed but we did succeed and finished the race in the allotted time frame, got our medals from the Marines and pretty much hobbled away to the car.
It seemed like an eternity before we got back to the car and had the same responses as most if not all of our clients after a long run like that... Very sore, very vocal about it and couldn't quite get comfortable. I think that pretty much sums it up. We both ended up with a few blisters but nothing too crazy .. Trust me it could have been worse.
I had problems right out the gate!! Before mile one (1) my quadratus femoris and biceps femoris long head & short head started tightening up, before I knew it I felt like my knee was in a "vise grip" and being squeezed like a grape and was going to explode... Not to mention it felt like I was being "shanked" in my ankle. This carried on for 13.1 miles... Good thing I knew what muscles were acting up, how to adjust my foot placement throughout the race and what to do at the end of the race!!
I may, repeat may do another 1/2 but not interested in the 26.2! Ill stick to my TRI's thank you very much!!
Kudos to all the runners today, the ones that continue to run and the new runners out there!
Always & with the Glitter!!

Wow I can't believe how fast this year is passing by, I'm hoping it slows down a bit very soon but in reality I know it won't. It's crazy how as we get older and have more responsibility that time just flys!
I have however been able to participate - compete in 4 sports events already this year! 3 mud runs and a sprint triathlon... Very cool and very excited about it all. This year is the first time I have ever received medals at the end of a race... I am looking forward to many more races this year as well.
I have also partnered with some Marines that are Ultra runners and supported them on a few runs... This is something that really excites me because its right up my ally! Sports massage at its finest!
Boo Boo also made it to Jacksonville for some sports massage "tune ups" before he goes back to Atlanta GA for additional training and big fight on June 14th!
Yes people, I'm living the dream!!
