January flew by, it seriously was a blur. My daughter & grandson came for a visit and I spent a few days of quality time with them. We had a lot of fun! The weather in NC was amazing during their visit as well.
I personally started on my New Year- New ME! As of January 2nd -yes that's when I started my new fitness regiment and a running challenge. A small pre-stretching workout, foam rolling routine prior to heading out on a run.
2014 & 2015 I struggled with a hip,leg & knee injury that I'm not exactly sure where and how it happened. So with my knowledge and skill set along with my fellow sports massage therapists (Kristen Paradise) expertise I have been able to eradicate the scar tissue and fascial adhesions that have slowly restricted my ROM & flexibility -it has also caused my muscles in the thigh to stay in a constant shortened state which has effectively weakened my muscles of the thighs into my calfs causing a plethora of additional problems and pain issues. NO MORE, I'm not getting any younger and I'm the one who has to live with this, so I made a commitment to myself... I said SELF.. (Actually I called myself something I won't write .. You gotta laugh at that, cause it's funny) You can and will do this - and so I have. I also wanted a notable change when I left for my trip in February (which I'm doing now)
I am committed to my daily morning 15-20 minute pre-workout which consists of:
•Static Stretching ( when done correctly is very powerful)
•Squats (3 sets of 10/12)
This pre-workout warms me up before I head out on a small run. I usually get anywhere from 1.90 to 5K in. My longest run this year has been just shy of 6 miles (5.89). I'm trying to get my miles under or at a 12 minute mile... That's realistic because of my height & weight. I will continue to work at that. But seriously, it feels good to get out and exercise at my comfort level and I am enjoying my gains! I get these results from the hard work I put in everyday! You can do it to!!
If your the type that needs to be pushed, told what to do or need a trainer / coach... Get one, it's worth it.
Food -nutrition is the next hard piece of this puzzle ... I have my juices (I naturally juice on a weekly basis) and I incorporate salads, nuts, chicken and tons of vegetables as well. I LOVE bread but stay away from it because it ends up being "saddle bags" on my ass!
What ever you do... Don't quit - invest in yourself, because frankly... NO ONE ELSE WILL
I'm out for now, thanks for reading the beginning of the 2016 journey!
Glitter & all!!
